Netiquette is similar to a code of conduct. Just as their is a proper vernacular there is a proper way to communicate on the internet. Netiquette or internet etiquette isn't always followed and isn't as important while communicating in the most personally setting, but it is very important to do so in all other occasions. Most people wouldn't dare use profane language or conduct certain conversations in public or around strangers. In the same manner there are some forms of internet communication that are taboo.
